Yajnopavita Sanskar (also called Janeu Sanskar or Upanayan) is one of the sixteen Hindu samskaras (sacraments) and is considered a major spiritual milestone. It marks the initiation of a young boy into Vedic education and the formal beginning of his spiritual life.
